Minimum values. The last column is Brinell hardness.
Service temperature
Mechanical properties are retained up to 230 °C; above 350 °C is not recommended.
This is the limit of the material itself. A valve's service temperature is usually set by the seal and seat materials; product pages give it for each seal option.
Media suitability GENERAL TREND
Emsal assessment. The final choice is made from corrosion tables, taking concentration, temperature, chloride content and flow velocity into account.
Strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
- The highest strength among copper alloys
- Highly resistant to cavitation and erosion in seawater
- Good in wear and friction
Weaknesses
- Risk of selective corrosion (dealuminification) in stagnant seawater
- Welding and casting require experience
