Pressure drop

- Min. cracking pressure · horizontal, without spring
- —
The cracking pressure is calculated by Emsal for a horizontal line and a disc without spring. At least 0.3 bar back pressure is required for tight shut-off.
Features
04Design
- Opens in the flow direction; closes against back pressure by spring or by its own weight
- Mounted directly between flanges
- Small size, low weight
Advantages
- Takes up little space
- Low pressure drop
- Fast closing — reduced risk of water hammer
- Easy installation, low maintenance
Applications
- HVAC and water treatment
- Process lines, pump discharges
- Chemical and petrochemical
- Fire fighting
- Energy, marine
Considerations
- Size matched to flange type and diameter
- Spring-loaded type in horizontal lines
- Seal suited to the medium
- Install according to the flow direction
Position in the line
05 · P&IDThe check valve is usually installed at the pump discharge, upstream of the isolation valve: when the pump stops, it prevents the line from draining back and the pump from running in reverse.
