Features
03Operation
- The sensor element detects the pressure of the medium (e.g. liquid, gas, steam).
- The mechanical pressure is converted into an electrical signal using piezoresistive, capacitive or strain gauge technology.
- The signal is usually transmitted as 4–20 mA, 0–10 V or RS485.
- Connected to a PLC, DCS or display panel, it can be read and used by the control system.
Advantages
- High accuracy: measurement to within ±0.1%.
- Wide measuring range: models from vacuum to high pressure.
- Durability: stainless steel housing and IP67/IP68 ratings for harsh environments.
- Easy integration: signal outputs compatible with industrial systems.
Applications
- Chemical industry: reactor and tank pressure monitoring
- Food production: steam and process line control
- Water treatment: pump discharge and filter differential pressure
- Power plants: boiler pressure and pipeline monitoring
Considerations
- Ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, corrosion) can affect sensor performance.
- Choose the mounting position carefully, taking flow direction and vibration into account.
- Periodic calibration is required; follow the manufacturer's instructions for accurate measurement.
| Transmitter type | Characteristics | Applications |
|---|---|---|
| Absolute pressure | Referenced to vacuum | Gas analysis systems |
| Gauge (relative) | Compares process pressure with atmospheric pressure | HVAC and tank level monitoring |
| Differential pressure | Measures the pressure difference between two points | Filtration, flow calculation |
