Notes
- This table has been compiled by Emsal from the relevant standards. For the full text of the standard, refer to your national standards body.
- The flange's internal thread is an ISO 7-1 taper pipe thread (R); the pipe outside diameter is that of the pipe matching the thread size.
- DIN 2566 flanges are thinner than EN in DN15–40 and have a different hub length (h1); select the DIN edition to see them. Connection dimensions are the same in both editions.
- Accuracy and currency are not guaranteed; use the current edition of the standard for design and purchasing decisions. How the library is compiled →

| b | Flange thickness | f | Raised face height |
| h1 | Length through hub | d2 | Bolt hole diameter |
Joint type and P&ID symbol
The threaded flange is screwed onto the pipe; no welding is needed. Sealing is made on the thread (taper thread with sealing tape or compound).
flangepipegasketweldbolt, nut
- Cut a taper external thread on the pipe end (EN 1092-1: R thread, ASME: NPT).
- Apply sealing tape or compound to the thread and screw on the flange.
- Fit the gasket and tighten the bolts in a cross pattern.
Used where welding is not possible (flammable areas, galvanised pipe) and on small-bore low-pressure lines. Thermal expansion and vibration can cause thread leaks.
P&ID: Flanged jointTwo short heavy lines perpendicular to the pipeline; the flange type is not shown on the diagram but given in the line list. Symbol library →
Not to scale; proportions are indicative.
