Notes
- This table has been compiled by Emsal from the relevant standards. For the full text of the standard, refer to JSA.
- In JIS the nominal size is written with "A" (e.g. 80A); the number matches DN, but the flange dimensions differ.
- The K class indicates the approximate maximum working pressure at ambient temperature in kgf/cm² (10K ≈ 10 kgf/cm²).
- 16K and 20K: outside diameter, bolt circle and holes are the same; only the flange thickness differs. Weights are calculated for the slip-on flange (7.85 kg/dm³).
- Accuracy and currency are not guaranteed; use the current edition of the standard for design and purchasing decisions. How the library is compiled →

Joint type and P&ID symbol
The slip-on flange is slipped over the pipe, with the pipe end set back from the flange face by about one wall thickness. Two fillet welds are made, one at the back of the hub and one at the bore.
flangepipegasketweldbolt, nut
- Slip the flange onto the pipe so that the pipe end sits about one wall thickness back from the gasket face.
- Make the outer fillet weld at the back of the hub and the inner weld at the pipe end; the inner weld must not protrude beyond the gasket face.
- Fit the gasket and tighten the bolts in a cross pattern.
Cheaper than a weld neck and easy to align; common at moderate pressures and temperatures. Weld neck flanges are preferred for lines with vibration or high temperatures.
P&ID: Flanged jointTwo short heavy lines perpendicular to the pipeline; the flange type is not shown on the diagram but given in the line list. Symbol library →
Not to scale; proportions are indicative.
