03Operation
- The float moves up or down with the liquid level.
- This movement actuates a switch via a mechanical lever, cable, chain or magnet.
- The switch provides a relay output that can signal another system such as a pump, alarm or valve.
- Usually used for simple ON/OFF level control.

- Long service life: little wear on mechanical parts; with regular maintenance it lasts for years.
- No power required: passive operating principle.

Considerations
- Install at the correct angle and position; tilted installation can give false signals.
- Regularly clean off dirt or deposits that could obstruct the float.
- High-viscosity liquids may require a special design.
