Features
03Design
- Usually cylindrical or round-headed, designed for threaded pipe connections.
- One end is blind, i.e. closed to liquid/gas.
- Typically male-threaded, fitted into couplings, reducers, valves and similar.
Advantages
- Seals: closes open lines and prevents leaks.
- Easy to fit: by hand or with a spanner.
- Safety during maintenance: shuts off the flow and prevents hazards.
- Economical: a small, cost-effective solution.
Considerations
- Use matching threads and apply the sealant (PTFE tape, gasket, etc.) correctly.
- Consider material strength in high-pressure applications.
- Check for corrosion if plugs stay in place for long periods.
| Plug type | Characteristics | Applications |
|---|---|---|
| Threaded plug | Designed for threaded connections | Water / gas installations |
| Flanged blank | For flanged systems | Industrial process lines |
| Weld cap | Welded to the pipe | High-pressure systems |
